Drug dealer killed in gunfight with BGB in Cox’s Bazar

A yaba dealer has been killed in a shootout between a drug dealer and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at the Shahparirdwip border in Teknaf Cox’s Bazar.BGB recovered yaba and weapons along with a wooden boat.The incident took place at Golarchar Point on Shahparirdwip in the early hours of Tuesday, February 9.The BGB said it saw two men entering the Bangladesh border in a boat and when BGB jawans challenged them, they fired indiscriminately at the BGB.The BGB fired back in self-defense.At that time, a person in the boat was shot and fell into the river. BGB could not reveal the name of the deceased.Lieutenant Colonel Md Faisal Hasan Khan commander of the BGB’s Teknaf-2 battalion said, locals informed the BGB when they saw the body of a man lying on the banks of the Naf River in the Shahparirdwip area in the morning.Later BGB members went and recovered the body.The man is believed to have been shot dead in a shootout with the BGB in the Naf River.The body was sent to the morgue of Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital for autopsy, Faisal said.
